Terms & Conditions

1. Definitions

1.1. "Provider" refers to Lisa Hopson of LisaLife Hypnotherapy, NLP & EFT, located at 20 Prigg Walk, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk IP32 6PP.

1.2. "Client" refers to the individual receiving services from the Provider.

2. Scope of Services

2.1. The services provided are not a replacement for medical treatment, psychological or psychiatric care, or counselling. If the Provider determines a case is beyond their expertise, the Client will be advised to seek support from suitably qualified specialists or practitioners.

2.2. The Provider cannot diagnose, prescribe for, or treat medical or mental health conditions.

2.3. The Client must disclose any relevant medical conditions, as some may contraindicate hypnotherapy unless cleared by a healthcare provider.

2.4. The Provider will use their best skills and efforts to work towards the Client's therapeutic goals. Clients must understand that outcomes vary between individuals, and results cannot be guaranteed. Payments are for services, time, and expertise, independent of results.

3. Sessions

3.1. The frequency and number of sessions required will be tailored to each Client’s needs and circumstances.

3.2. The initial consultation lasts 75 minutes, with subsequent sessions lasting 50 minutes (unless otherwise specified).

Face-to-Face Sessions
3.3. Face-to-face sessions will take place in a suitable therapy room in or near to Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk. The location will be confirmed in advance.

Online Sessions
3.4. Online sessions should be conducted in a confidential space, free from observation or eavesdropping.

3.5. While reasonable steps will be taken to ensure confidentiality, internet-based communication cannot be guaranteed as 100% secure. The Provider is not responsible for breaches beyond their control.

4. Fees

4.1. All services will incur a fee are as outlined by the Provider, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

4.2. Full payment is required in advance of the session.

4.3. The Provider reserves the right to invoice and follow up on unpaid fees.

4.4. Requests for refunds (for prepaid sessions cancelled within the required notice period) will be processed within 5 working days.

5. Cancellations, Non-Attendance, and Termination

5.1. Clients should inform the Provider as soon as possible if they anticipate being late. While the Provider will try to accommodate lost time, this may not always be possible, and the full session fee will apply.

5.2. Cancellations or rescheduling require at least 48 hours' notice. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice or non-attendance will incur the full session fee.

5.3. If the Provider cancels due to illness or emergency, the Client will be offered a rescheduled session or a full refund of prepaid fees.

5.4. The conclusion of therapy is typically agreed upon by both parties. However, the Client may terminate therapy at any time, taking into consideration the cancellation and notice policies.

5.5. The Provider reserves the right to immediately terminate sessions in cases of antisocial behaviour, abuse, misconduct, or attendance under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

 

6. Contact

6.1. Contact between sessions will be limited to scheduling or cancelling appointments, during business hours (9 am-5 pm) by telephone, or via email.

6.2. If necessary, the Provider will contact the Client between sessions using their preferred method, as indicated on the Client Information Form.

7. Standards of Behaviour

7.1. Therapeutic Partnership
Therapy is a collaborative process based on mutual trust and respect, which both the Provider and Client agree to uphold.

7.2. Commitment to Therapy

The Provider is committed to working professionally and transparently to support the client in achieving their goals. The Client acknowledges that progress requires their commitment, motivation and active participation, (both during the sessions and through reflection and completion of any assigned follow-up work), and that personal effort and full engagement in the process is essential for achieving change.

7.3. Code of Conduct and Ethics
The Provider adheres to the National Hypnotherapy Society's Code of Ethics, ensuring professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity. This can be viewed in full at National Hypnotherapy Society's website. The provider will treat the client with respect, using best practices to foster a safe and supportive environment.

The client agrees not to harm themselves, others, or any property. Violent, abusive, or disruptive behaviour, including attending sessions under the influence of alcohol or non-prescribed drugs, will result in immediate termination of treatment.

7.4. Use of Materials
The client understands they must not listen to any hypnotherapy recordings provided while driving or performing tasks requiring concentration. Any hypnotherapy recordings or other materials provided are strictly for the Client's personal use and must not be shared, copied, or distributed.

7.5. Feedback and Continuous Improvement
The Provider welcomes Client feedback to maintain and improve service standards.

7.6. Complaints
Clients are encouraged to raise any concerns directly with the Provider. If unresolved, they may access the complaints procedure of the National Hypnotherapy Society: The National Hypnotherapy Society, 19 Grafton Road, Worthing, West Sussex, BN11 1QT. Tel: 01903 23685.

 

8. Confidentiality & Data Protection

8.1. Confidentiality is paramount and will be maintained in accordance with the Data Protection Act and GDPR, except in cases where:
i) The Client consents or requests disclosure (e.g., to a GP).
ii) There is a legal obligation to disclose (e.g., a court order).
iii) The client has disclosed, or has given sufficient cause for the provider to perceive that they are at risk of harming themselves or others, or, if the client/ another person is at risk of abuse, neglect or in imminent danger.

8.2. The Provider is registered with the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office), as required by GDPR (Reference: C1290042).

8.3. Relevant personal information and session notes will be securely stored for up to 7 years, or until a minor client turns 25, in line with best practice.

8.4. Anonymous case details may be shared with supervisors or peer support groups for professional development. This does not constitute a breach of professional confidentiality.

8.5. No recordings or duplication of session materials by the Client is permitted.

8.6. CCTV may be in use at some premises but will only be reviewed or shared in exceptional circumstances.
